Cancer patient who committed suicide may have missed all-clear letter

British officials say a cancer patient who hanged himself may not have received a letter sent by doctors, saying he was clear of the illness.

Colin Jackson was found hanging from a ledge in his apartment southeast of London on July second. The 43-year-old underwent intense treatment after being diagnosed with testicular cancer last year.

The local coroner’s office says he may not have received the letter because he had recently registered with a different family physician.

A spokeswoman for the coroner’s office says Jackson had no financial worries, and the breakup of a relationship didn’t seem to be the cause.

Jackson’s mother says her son had become “withdrawn” toward the end of his life, though the cancer letter might have helped him.
