Kraft recalls Jell-O over undeclared pistachios

Kraft Foods Inc on Monday recalled about 150,000 packages of Jell-O pudding, which may contain pistachios not listed among the ingredients on the label.

The product was distributed nationally, the Illinois-based company said.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported in connection with the undeclared pistachios in three flavors of Reduced Calorie Instant Pudding & Pie Filling, the company said.

Kraft recalled 1.4 oz. packages of white chocolate flavor Jell-O with the 05 MAR 07 D8 and 06 MAR 07 D8 code dates, chocolate flavor Jell-O with the 06 MAR 07 D8 code date and Jell-O chocolate fudge flavor with the 07 MAR 07 D8 code.

The company said it has taken steps to prevent a recurrence of the error, which it found after examining boxes of Jell-O still under its control.

No other Jell-O products are part of the recall, the company said. Consumers were advised to return the recalled Jell-O boxes to the stores where they were purchased for a full refund, Kraft said.

The company saw no health risk for people who are not allergic to pistachio nuts.
