Low Number of Women Take Aspirin for Heart Attack Prevention
Only about half the women with cardiovascular disease are taking an aspirin a day, according to a new study.
Low-dose aspirin therapy is widely recommended for helping to prevent heart attacks.
Researchers found the rate of use among black women and patients on Medicaid was particularly low.
Scientists call the results discouraging because the women were already going to clinics and seeing doctors, but were being under-treated.
