Medicare to cover Merck drug to treat nausea
Medicare will pay for Merck & Co. Inc.‘s drug, Emend, when used with two other drugs to treat nausea and Vomiting in cancer patients receiving certain chemotherapy, U.S. officials said on Tuesday.
Emend, also known as aprepitant, will be covered when added to treatments given before patients receive highly emetogenic chemotherapy, which can cause severe symptoms, said Medicare, the national health program for the elderly and disabled.
