Schwan’s expands recall of eggrolls, pizza, tacos
Schwan’s Food Manufacturing Inc. recalled an additional 191,033 pounds of frozen egg rolls, tacos and pizza twists that may contain glass fragments, bringing the total amount of recalled products to more than 350,000 pounds.
The U.S. Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the company’s expanded recall late on Monday. Schwan’s original recall began on Jan. 19 following complaints by consumers.
All recalled products were made at Schwan’s Minh plant in Pasadena, Texas.
Some foods involved in the expanded recall were purchased for federal school lunch program. They were 9.75-pound cases of Coyote Grill beef tacos and 15.75-pound cases of Minh egg rolls.
Recalled products that were sold in grocery stores nationwide were:
- 20-ounce packages of Tony’s pizza twists in sausage and pepperoni. Each package bears the date code “384313.”
- 11-ounce packages of Pagoda white meat chicken egg roll. Each package bears the date code “384313.”
- 11-ounce packages of Pagoda savory pork and vegetable egg roll. Each package bears the date code “384313.”
- 11-ounce packages of Pagoda sweet and sour chicken egg roll. Each package bears the date code “384313.”
- 6.4-ounce packages of Pagoda savory pork mini egg rolls. Each package bears the date code “384314.”
- 6.4-ounce packages of Pagoda white meat chicken mini egg rolls. Each package bears the date code “384314.”
- 11-ounce packages of Pagoda Southwest style chicken egg rolls. Each package bears the date code “384313.”
- 11-ounce packages of HEB Classic Selections white meat chicken and soy flour egg rolls. Each package bears the “Use By” code “03/09/05.”
- 36-ounce packages of Jade Mountain egg rolls with pork and vegetable protein. Each package bears the date code “110904” or “384314.”
- 13.5-pound cases of Lotus Garden egg rolls made of pork and vegetable protein. Each case bears the date code “384315.”
Each of the packages distributed nationwide also displays the establishment number “EST. 5630” inside the Agriculture Department mark of inspection.
