Vioxx or Celebrex

Too much aspirin

About half of those who take Vioxx or Celebrex for arthritis pain also take aspirin, a combination that could be dangerous, researchers say, because it increases the risk of ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding.

The researchers also found that many older people who take aspirin to protect against heart attacks take too much - a 325-milligram tablet rather than the 81 milligrams that are recommended.

Too much, too little

Babies who are small or large at birth may be at higher risk for health problems down the line:

Heart disease: The risks increase for babies weighing less than 7 pounds or more than 8.8.

Depression: Girls weighing less than 6.5 pounds or boys weighing less than 5.5 are at higher risk.

Diabetes: Those weighing less than 5.5 pounds or more than 9 have increased risk.

Intelligence: Babies weighing less than 5.5 pounds score lower on intelligence tests.

Breast cancer: Girls weighing 10 pounds have triple the risks of those weighing 5.5 to 7.7 pounds.

Sneaky snacks

One extra can of soda a day can add 15 pounds to your weight in a year.

One extra tablespoon of light mayo on a sandwich daily will add five pounds.

One extra energy bar will add 26 pounds.

All or nothing

Feeling overwhelmed? Drop everything for 20 minutes to do something else - take a walk, meditate or stretch, suggests Prevention magazine. Or do absolutely nothing. Either way, you’ll be refreshed when you go back to the work at hand.
