Definition
A hemangioma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumor consisting of dilated blood vessels. When a hemangioma occurs in the liver it is called a hepatic hemangioma. Hemangiomas may cause problems because of location (they can interfere with the function of the organ) or hemorrhage (bleeding).
