Information
Heredity plays a major role in determining whether you will get varicose veins. Some preventive measures include exercising to strengthen the muscles that support the veins, wearing support hose (especially during pregnancy), and avoiding standing up for prolonged periods. Surgery can remove varicose veins if they cause pain or are a cosmetic problem. See varicose vein surgery and varicose veins.
